After finished solar cells are cleaved, the cutting process causes lattice fracture and surface defects. The cut surfaces are prone to absorb moisture and other contaminants, which deteriorates cell efficiency and reliability. The edge passivation equipment deposits a protective passivation film on the cut surfaces of half-cells, effectively reducing carrier recombination and improving the overall efficiency and reliability of cells and modules.
